It’s a beautiful day for a home tour, don’t you think? Up in my great white northern corner of Canada, it’s been feeling like a winter wonderland for a while now. We have a ton of snow on the ground, so it’s never strange for me to get my Christmas decor out early. But this home tour is especially exciting because our living room was the first completely renovated space in our new Barn Home, which means it was my first time decorating a new space! I’m stoked to be joining a ton of talented Canadian bloggers for the Canadian Bloggers Home Tours – you can find links to the other inspiring rooms at the bottom!
Aside from this being my first Christmas here, it’s also my first Christmas without red in my decor! I’m usually very traditional when it comes to holidays. But my bins of red and green decorations sit untouched this year, and I don’t regret it for a minute!
Something about our new navy sofa just really made me want a navy Christmas! So I added some metallics, some white, and some black, and made the perfect palette.
If you want to see more great pics of our Christmas tree, I shared some great insider tips and tricks for decorating the perfect tree last week!
I switched out a few of the blankets and throw pillows for cozier versions, like this DIY deer Christmas pillow.
Or the beautiful black and white lettered pillowed I picked out of the Lemon Thistle shop!
PS – seriously the softest pillows EVER!
This was also my first time decorating a fireplace with no mantel! I toyed with some different ideas of where to hang our stockings, but in the end they just fit perfectly under the sound bar! It’s as if we thought of it before we built the fireplace! #nowedidnot #Hewouldneverhaveletmechangebuildplansfordecorreasons
The fur stockings were already perfect, but I stuck a twig of greenery, and some rose gold bells on each stocking to add a bit of colour and texture.
Since I’m feeling a little more minimalistic with my decor these days, my centerpiece was simple – a vase with green stems, and a bowl with a few ornaments. Bonus – my kids can still play and colour at the table. Pretty and practical.
Just for fun, here’s a couple of quick shots I took at night so you can appreciate the Christmas living room glow we’ve been enjoying for the last couple of weeks :)
I hope you enjoyed the room tour! Thank you for stopping by!
