Modern and Minimalist Fall Decor Ideas

Beautiful modern and minimalist fall decor ideas. Tips and tricks for maintaining a modern, minimal look in seasonal decor.

Hey hey! Welcome back to another beautiful home tour! There are two times that I consistently decorate my home… fall and Christmas! Last year I purged a ton of the fall and holiday decor that I had because I was feeling like I just had too much “stuff”. This year I decorated with what was left of my favourite pieces, and a few new dollar store DIY projects for fall.

You can find all of the beautiful home tours linked at the bottom of the post! If you’re following alone and visiting from Life is Better at Home than welcome to our site! I hope you enjoy the tour.

Fall Entry Decor

beautiful minimalist decor ideas for the entry

The first stop on our tour is our entry! It’s one of the first rooms we renovated and I still love decorating this space and seeing that moody green wall!

Pumpkins are a staple of fall decor, and I love adding them, but tend to use real ones (see last year’s home tour!) or more modern looking ones in grey, white, or traditional fall colours. I love that plaid one above!

The shelves and hooks are full of pieces that we are actually using on a day-to-day basis in the fall, including my fall hat and sweater. They look seasonal and cozy, and still act like decor without having to buy new decor to decorate with.

Fall Kitchen & Dining Room Decor

When it comes to greenery, I try to keep all of my real plants out as the seasons change, although sometimes I switch to warmer looking pots and stands. Then, when it comes to the faux greenery, I add fall stems, like wheat, to mix in with the greens like eucalyptus stems.

I didn’t add a ton of decor to the kitchen, except a few favourite pieces like the apple and pear sculptures on the shelf. And of course, we’re eating seasonal veggies, so why not display them?!

The coffee bar didn’t need much decor to make it feel like fall. We added some new napkins, some fall cookies (hello cinnamon!) and a few little DIY fall gnomes to the shelves (made with dollar store supplies!).

The dining room decor is pretty and simple, and uses the same centrepieces that I made for our thanksgiving tablescape video last week.

If you want to help a face feel cozy and warm without buying too many new things, swap out some of your planters and stands for ones made of brass, wood, gold, etc.

Fall Desk Decor

Styled fall desk

I love the large open shelves above this desk. They are always fun to style, and show the effectiveness of leaving negative space while you decorate as well.

If you want to save yourself from stocking up on new decor, I used another couple of tricks here! A letterboard is a great decor piece that can change with the seasons and match any style. And I always love buying pillow covers, like this fall one, so I can switch the covers each season, instead of switching and storing the full pillows.

Fall Living Room Decor

Finally, here’s our living room decor! I switched out some throw pillows, added a fall blanket and switched to some fall scented candles. I don’t always decorate with oranges and browns, but I embraced those traditional fall tones this year, and loved it!

Another tip if you’re looking to save yourself from stocking up on home decor, is to buy a few neutral throws and pillows that can work for any season, and just add in one seasonal colour or pattern to make the whole feel of the room shift. This time around the only one I added was burnt orange, and the rest of the neutrals just fell into place with the new decor.
