Beautiful and minimalist and modern Thanksgiving tablescape. DIY projects you can do on a budget to create your own minimalist table decor.
When it comes to tablescapes, my tastes have gotten more and more minimal. I don’t want too much on the table to impede my vision of the other guests, but I still like to be “on-theme” and decorate for the holiday. This year I made a simple, minimalist and modern Thanksgiving tablescape that was the perfect medium.
Our dollar store minimalist Thanksgiving tablescape includes four dollar store DIYs, plus some more affordable fall home decor. Hopefully it provides some inspiration for your own Thanksgiving tablescape.

Thanksgiving Tablescape Accessories
I built this Thanksgiving table around some black plates that I already had and loved. These ones are very similar, and very affordable too!
The rest of the table accessories are items that I already had around home, and have used for several different table settings. Here are some of my current favourites:
- Black plates
- Small bread plates
- Black silverware (or these ones)
- Leather table runner
- White and black napkins (white base) or charcoal linen
- Walnut cutting board
- Fall leaf stems
- Salt & Pepper Shakers
Thanksgiving Tablescape DIY Projects
I used some matte black plates that I already had, but wanted to add some colour and texture to the plate, so I made some simple plate chargers to go underneath.
I grabbed some dollar store chargers and painted them with a baking soda and paint mixture to give that textured look. They are exactly what I wanted for the table design.
Then I added some patterned napkins and put that little, minimalist napkin tie on top. The napkin ring was another easy DIY project and it really brings the whole place setting together.
Next, I took my dollar store painted vases and my fluted candle holder and turned them into a a nice cozy centrepiece, full of texture. I just plopped a simple pillar candle on top of the candle holder and added some faux fall stems to the vases and it created the perfect ambiance.
This fluted candle holder was made using a wooden cup and dowels from the Dollar store. I used a natural stain, but you can use any colour. I really love the wood tone and the warmth it adds to our thanksgiving tablescape.
Both vases were dollar store vases and I used the same baking soda and paint technique that I used on the plate chargers to turn them into beautiful looking home decor.
