This project was so fun to make. I’m SO excited to get my bathroom back after this big renovation, and I can’t wait to take my first soak in our big tub. This little guys is going to get a good workout!
The first thing you have to do is build the Bath Caddy. I teamed up with Kreg Tool Company and Build Something to bring you these great free build plans. Download the plans and follow the step-by-step instructions on the site.
Once the woodworking was done, we filled the bottom of the tray with tile to add some character to the piece! The tile inlay looks amazing.
Before gluing the tiles in place we stained the entire piece with my favourite black stain from Minwax – Ebony.
Because the wood piece was going to be getting wet beside a bathtub, we varnished it with a moisture resistant varnish.
We used PL Premium to glue the tiles in place, and then used resin to seal the tile. We mixed the resin twice according to the instructions on the box and then poured it overtop of the tile in a really thin layer so that we could still see the definition from the tile.
LOVE love love this project. It’s going to be used every single time I take a bath!

Gah! This shower caddy looks like amazing. My wife had been wanting to buy one but I think I found my next project. I've also been meaning to practice tiling since I've never done it before, I think this will be a great project to dabble with. Thanks for the idea! I'll post back the end result if it's good enough haha.
