Oh my goodness you guys! I'm going to have a baby soon! Each day that passes I get more and more excited to be a mom and meet this baby. I'm trying to be as prepared as possible (though I know they say you're never truly prepared)!
To help me feel prepared, I need to be organized. This goes for every part of my life and expecting a baby is no different. One part of the nursery that's feeling a little unorganized to me right now is the baby's closet. I already have a few little outfits for the baby and I can't wait to get more, but I've been having a hard time trying to figure out how to organize the baby's clothes.
The clothes are so small, there are so many of them and babies grow out of them so fast! So as you can imagine, I can't stop scouring Pinterest for nursery organization ideas.
There were a lot of cute ideas that I came across but one idea that really stuck with me was DIY baby closet dividers. Baby closet dividers hang in your closet and separate the clothes by sizes so that they're easy to reach for, easy to store and easy to organize.
It also makes it simple to see how many clothes you have in certain sizes and what you may need more or less of as time goes on. I haven't seen very many people use baby closet dividers so it wasn't something I initially thought I would need, but the more I thought about it the more convenient I thought they would be to have.
There are so many cute DIY nursery closet divider ideas on Pinterest. For the most part they all seem really easy and functional, but one problem I found with them was that they weren't changeable, meaning most of them are made with permanent sizes stamped on them. I know that babies are only in, for example, 0-3 month clothes for a short period of time (if at all) depending on how much they weigh when they're born and how fast they grow.
I plan on using baby closet dividers for a long time - well into the toddler years - and I just can't justify making baby closet dividers that I would use for such a short period of time, only to need more as my baby keeps growing older and bigger.
Another problem I came across was that I didn't think a lot of the DIY baby closet dividers I saw online would have a long life span. Many were made from cardboard or light plastic and I knew I wanted something more durable that would last longer.
I brainstormed with my husband and we came up with these really cute and easy DIY nursery closet dividers that can be easily modified to fit any age and size of the baby. These are practical and can be used as your child ages, meaning you won't have to make any more as your baby grows older.
We wanted to make something a little more durable too, so they are less wasteful. I'd like to use them for as long as I can - maybe even for the next baby! But I know…one step - or one baby - at a time here. However, ultimately these baby closet dividers should save you time and money in the long run.
We thought making baby closet dividers out of wood would look classic and help extend their lifespan. We also thought that adding on chalkboard imprints we could write on, erase and update would make them easily adaptable for any age while keeping them cute and trendy.
Overall, they were pretty simple to make. I found some of the materials I needed laying around my house and the rest I found either on Amazon or at Michael's. I'm really happy with the end result and feel so good about having a more organized baby closet before the baby makes its appearance!
Follow these simple steps below to make your own DIY nursery closet dividers. I hope you like them!

Hi! Yes they are wood, I just found them at Michaels! I'm not sure if they still carry them though. Good luck finding them!
