A beautiful summer home tour! The greenery and pops of white decor give the rooms a fresh summery feel that brighten up the space for the season!

Summer is here! And I’m celebrating with a beautiful summer home tour! Honestly, I can barely call this a home tour… partly because I’m only showing off two rooms – my living room and dining room. And partly because I barely have any summer decor in those two rooms. I think I said this the last time I shared a home tour post as well, but gone are my days of adding tons of new decor to spaces! I have two dogs and three children, so this is my “real life” summer home. If you’re visiting from Sarah’s beautiful home at Grace in my Space – welcome!

Our Summer Living Room
This is our living room. It has a giant window that lets in so much light on the sunshiny days, which is probably my favourite part of the room. I added a few small touches to help brighten the space for the summer, but kept the decor very minimalist.

My goal is to keep the space looking fresh and summery, yet still keep it practical. My son’s toy bin stayed tucked in by the bench because that’s where it always lives.

Most of the pieces that I added to the space were white. I swapped out anything thick, warm, or knit for the softer whites and simple cotton blankets. I know summer doesn’t seem like a season that you need blankets for, but I swear to you that my daughter is incapable of watching even one episode of Paw Patrol without a blanket wrapped around her!

The dog bed shifts around, but often rests in the corner of the living room. It’s not very summery, but it is real life! If you haven’t met her yet, this is Belle – our new puppy! She’s just 9 weeks old right now, and the vet just informed us that we might be in for a pretty big dog because she may have some husky in her. Time will tell if she fills out that dog bed or not!

Greenery! Real or faux, it’s essential for a summery room. I love the look of a few simple stems in a vase. This simple summer coffee table styling is brought to you by my one year old! I needed pieces that looked bright and airy for the summer, but that I could remove at a moment’s notice if my son got too crazy pulling himself up to the coffee table.

The little wooden table beside our couch also got a hint of greenery, and a couple of simple, nordic candlesticks. They don’t have candles on them right now because I have a few candle smells that I love, and that’s really all I use! But I still put them our because I find them to be kind of sculptural! I love the way they look.

And of course, I littered the place with gorgeous black and white pillows! This “Hello Summer” modern pillow is my absolute favourite for the season.

I also added one simple, elegant grass wreath to hang over my bench. I have a few other pieces that could hang here, but they all felt a little too heavy for the season. This faux wreath added the airy feeling I was going for. And that modern patterned grey pillow? I can’t say enough about how perfect it is for the season!

On the other side of our living room is our computer desk. And once again, I kept the decor very minimal!

We added a light, neutral throw onto the chair, and some simple greenery, but since we use this space on a regular basis, we can’t actually add much to the desktop. Well… we could, but it would be need to be removed in about 45 minutes, lol.

Our living room is open to the dining room in a large area with vaulted ceilings, so it only makes sense that I share both spaces together!

Our Summer Dining Room

Our simple checkered white pillow brings all of the pattern and brightness from the dining room into the living room.

Our dining room renovation was finished last month, so this is our first time sharing the finished room in a home tour. There are still a few things that need to be added into the space, like some artwork and some shelves above the coffee station.

The DIY accent wall is a feature in itself! Honestly, I’m not even 100% used to it yet, and definitely not used to covering it up! So instead of added a ton of decor, I kept it minimal once again.

Really the only thing I keep on the table are these vases. They don’t really block any views, and they are easy to move aside at dinner time if needed. Just a couple stems of eucalyptus is all you need to make it feel fresh in a space.

The shelf on the far wall just has a couple of planters. I’d love to fill out this space with greenery, but clearly haven’t done that yet! lol.

My plan is to put some hanging planters in that top left corner of the wall. They won’t be “summery” per say, but they will add some more life to the space!

I hope you liked the tour of these two rooms! They’re two of my favourite rooms in the home and I love showing them off whenever I get the chance – even if I’m showing my barely-a-home-tour photos, lol.
