Gold Heart Art

Gold Heart Art

I think gold may be my new favourite colour.
When I’m thinking up ideas or colour schemes they all seem to somehow include gold. I find myself buying clothing with gold accents, purchasing gold washi tapes, choosing colour palettes that incorporate gold well… This is a colour trend that I can get on board with! Hopefully my overuse won’t ruin the appeal, lol.  Well anyway… you can see why I settled on Gold Heart Art for my daughter’s room.

Gold Heart Art

So when I was thinking about artwork I wanted to add to my daughter’s room, gold was an obvious choice!

White cardstock
Gold shimmer paper (recollections) or gold vinyl
Glue or double sided tape
Picture frame

To begin, I drew up a diagram just like the one below on my Cricut Explore Air 2. The only heart shape I could find that I liked, was one from the art philosophy cartridge that had a large circle around it, so I just cut the entire image, making sure the heart was as large as I wanted it (approx. 6″ wide). Then I added the handwritten “love” from my artbooking cartridge.Cut on the gold shimmer cardstock.

Once it was cut I had to carefully remove the inside “heart” pieces from the outline. The inside pieces will form your artwork. Here’s what you are left with when done…

The next step is to place and align your heart components on the white cardstock. This is the most time consuming part of the project. Make sure to be patient and measure accurately or it will show in the finished product!

Finally, you glue the pieces in place on the white cardstock, and place it in your frame.

I have some other projects that will join this artwork in Ellie’s “big girl room” one day. For the sake of pictures, I put it in the middle of her other nursery artwork to get a feel for what it would look like.

I LOVE the finished project. It was super quick to make, and I’m very happy with how it turned out :)
Hope you like it!

Since this post was written, this Heart Art was transformed into my daughter’s New Big Girl Bedroom :)
